Released in 2000, the Pokémon TCG: Team Rocket expansion set remains one of the most evocative and nostalgic sets of the early Pokémon era. With its dark, mischievous aesthetic and introduction of the now-iconic Dark Pokémon, this set captured the imagination of collectors and players alike. We’ve taken a look at the most valuable cards this Unlimited Team Rocket booster box could contain and their estimated CGC 10 values.
Dark Charizard (Holo & Non-Holo)
No list of Team Rocket standouts would be complete without Dark Charizard. This fiery menace, depicted mid-attack with an ominous glare, is a desirable card in any condition. The holographic version, with its deep shadows and glowing embers, remains a collector’s favourite, while even the non-holo iteration holds significant appeal for those drawn to the set’s dark artistry. A CGC 10 holo version typically sells for around £600-£1,000.
Dark Blastoise (Holo & Non-Holo)
A fearsome take on the classic Blastoise, this card showcases the powerhouse Water-type in a sinister pose. The holo version of Dark Blastoise has long been sought after for its striking artwork and competitive history, making it a worthy prize for those cracking open an Unlimited Team Rocket pack. A CGC 10 holographic Dark Blastoise can fetch between £350-£600.
Dark Dragonite (Holo & Non-Holo)
Few Pokémon embody power and charm quite like Dragonite, and its Team Rocket counterpart brings an unexpected edge to its usual friendly demeanour. The non-holo version has its own cult following due to a peculiar printing anomaly—certain versions show the holo number (5 instead of 22), making them a curiosity among error collectors. A CGC 10 holo Dark Dragonite typically sells for £300-£550.
Dark Raichu (Holo – The First Secret Rare!)
As the very first Secret Rare in Pokémon TCG history, Dark Raichu holds a unique place in collecting lore. An unplanned inclusion, this electrifying holo card numbered 83/82 was a last-minute addition by Wizards of the Coast that sent waves through the hobby, becoming and English Card before Japanese. Its rarity and historical significance make it a top-tier pull. A CGC 10 Dark Raichu is valued between £450-£800.
Here Comes Team Rocket! (Holo & Non-Holo)
A trainer card unlike any before it, Here Comes Team Rocket! features the infamous trio—Jessie, James, and Meowth—scheming with trademark villainous charm was the first holo trainer card to be included in a set! A nostalgic callback to the anime, this card remains a favourite for both collectors and fans of Pokémon’s more mischievous side. A CGC 10 holo Here Comes Team Rocket! can be found for around £150-£300.
