Hornby x SGB Charity Auction Announced Featuring Rare Models and Airfix Coins

Hornby Hobbies is excited to announce its free, family-friendly ‘World of Hobbies’ pop-up event at the iconic Stanley Gibbons shop on the Strand, London, on the 28th and 29th of October. Perfectly timed for half-term, this interactive experience will feature all the much-loved Hornby Hobbies brands, including Hornby, Scalextric, Airfix, Pocher, and Corgi.

Designed to inspire creativity and family bonding, ‘World of Hobbies’ will offer something for every member of the family. Attendees can enjoy thrilling Scalextric racing, marvel at a Hornby model railway layout, try their hand at Airfix Quickbuild model construction, and explore exciting exhibits from all five brands.

The event will feature an auction to raise funds for a broad range of charities including Sandcastle Trust, Mind, Models for Heroes, Mission Motorsport, The Children’s Trust and Hope for Tomorrow.

Auction Highlights include:

A Signed 1:24 scale Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII kit. Signed by pilot George Haye (Suffolk Spitfire), Dave Harvey (Polish Heritage Flight) and Clive Denney (PHF). This kit was a 2024 summer secret release.

We're giving you the opportunity to get your hands on seven of our limited-edition Airfix coins. Ranging from product specific coins to ones that celebrate key anniversary dates like the 80th anniversary of D-Day, you'll want to get your hands on these! The coin features the product/anniversary on the front with the Airfix log etched on the back.

A chance to own a unique Aviation Archive model - this is the pre-production sample of the newly released 1:48 scale model of the Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 operated by the Eurofighter Display Team. Known as 'Blackjack', this model features some subtle differences in paint colouration and finish from the final production model that is now on store shelves. It is supplied in the original box which depicts the previous release from this tooling.

This is the pre-production sample of an unannounced model that never went into full production this year. Timed to commemorate the 60th anniversary of The Beatles first tour of the USA, this American tour bus is a genuine rarity.
